EUROPEAN RACING

MUGELLO - SPA - DIJON - LE MANS

This spring has seen the CKL team making the trip over to Europe multiple times to support our customers racing at events with Historic Racing by Peter Auto.

MUGELLO CLASSIC

Racing in Tuscany

CKL E-Type at Mugello

The first race of the European season saw us at Mugello at the end of March for the Peter Auto European opener. Guy Ziser and Oli Webb were really quick all weekend, piloting Guy's E-Type up to second place for much of the race.

Racing in the Belgian Ardennes is magical. The highlight of the weekend for many of the spectators at La Source, Eau Rouge, the Combes Esses, Malmédy, and Blanchimont was the battle between the Ziser/Webb E-Type vs the Spiers/Greensall Cobra.

CKL Racing Lister Jaguar Spa Classic MRL

The Lister-Jaguar of John Spiers fought from P27 on the grid up to P2 with some incredible driving from John, which really showed off the ultimate pace of his Lister, which is one of the fastest fifties sports cars in historic racing.

GRAND PRIX DE L'AGE D'OR

Circuit Dijon-Prenois

CKL Jaguar XK-150 racing at Dijon

Glorious sunshine greeted us at Dijon for the l'Age d'Or - the oldest historic car meeting in France having first run in 1964 as a support race to the French Grand Prix. Marc Gordon's XK-150 S was running well until a snapped throttle cable on the penultimate lap deprived him of a second-in-class finish. John Spiers' 1958 Lister had an incredible 4th place finish in a glamorous but mixed grid that included much more modern machinery including a Porsche 904, Maserati Birdcage, and various 1960s Ferraris and Jaguars.

LE MANS CLASSIC

Preparing for the centenary celebration

“We are really looking forward to the 100th Anniversary - can't wait to be a part of it.”

Mark Hews

Next stop is Le Mans for the Centenary. Read Gomm and Marc Gordon are returning with their Jaguar XK-140 which has attended every Le Mans Classic since the event started. Guy Ziser is bringing his E-Type for the second year in a row. Last year he and Oli Webb won the Index of Performance, so Guy is hoping to do well again this year with co-driver Chris Ward. We are also bringing Jonathan Bailey's wonderful original D-Type. Preparation is well underway and everyone here at CKL is very excited for the event.
